A NEW CHAPTER IN MIAMI MODERN DESIGN

Set along South Beach’s famed Collins Avenue, The James Nautilus Miami Beach offers a fresh perspective on an architectural icon, where mid-century design, Latin American influences and contemporary hospitality come together. Originally designed in 1951 by Morris Lapidus, the hotel carries the legacy of Miami Modern architecture into a new era, creating a distinctive retreat defined by expressive interiors, thoughtful details and an unmistakable sense of place. From mornings overlooking the Atlantic to evenings shaped by exceptional dining and lively social spaces, the hotel captures the many sides of Miami Beach.

ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE MEETS CONTEMPORARY DESIGN

Known as the Architect of Joy, Morris Lapidus believed that architecture should inspire emotion and create memorable experiences. Designers Anderson | Miller honour that philosophy by preserving the building’s signature lines and curves while introducing the warmth of Latin American modernism. Brazilian design, Colombian folk art and the residential interiors of Buenos Aires inform spaces that feel collected, personal and full of character.

The experience begins in a lobby layered with terracotta, tobacco leather, mossy greens and accents of saffron and crimson. Raw plaster, burnished walnut and richly textured rugs create depth, while handmade details and unexpected combinations lend the interiors the personality of a well-travelled host with exceptional taste.

Art unfolds throughout the property like a private collection waiting to be discovered. Oversized abstract canvases by Holly Terry and a domed mural by Abel Macias anchor the lobby, while animal-form ceramics by William Byl and colourful steel sculptures by Cody Hudson reward a closer look. Works by Patty Carroll, Josh Dihle, Jen Park and other artists add further dimension, creating an environment where design and artistic expression remain central to the guest experience.

RESIDENTIAL COMFORT WITH AN OCEANFRONT PERSPECTIVE

The guestrooms and suites extend the hotel’s welcoming aesthetic into private retreats that balance expressive colour, tactile finishes and thoughtful comforts. Personal cocktail bars, Marshall speakers and sneaker-cleaning kits add distinctive touches, while floor-to-ceiling windows in many accommodations frame views of the Atlantic.

Suites elevate the experience with personalised concierge service, coffee delivered to the door, breakfast for two and preferred beach seating. These considered amenities bring a residential sense of ease to the stay, allowing guests to settle into their surroundings while enjoying the conveniences of a full-service hotel.

COFFEE, COASTAL DINING AND SOCIAL SPACES

At the heart of the arrival experience, The James Café welcomes guests with coffee and fresh pastries, creating an inviting place to begin the morning or pause between plans. As the day unfolds, prosecco and natural wine offer a relaxed transition into the evening. Its approachable atmosphere reflects the hotel’s broader philosophy of hospitality, where everyday rituals become part of the experience.

Dining takes centre stage at Barlume Beach, an all-day Mediterranean destination that spans the salon, terrace, pool and beach club. Inspired by Europe’s sunlit coasts and animated by Miami’s energy, the experience moves effortlessly from leisurely meals to lively gatherings.

Within the hotel, the Barlume Salon offers a more intimate setting, defined by deep walnut millwork, a distinctive stone-top bar and communal tables. Its restaurant, bar and private dining spaces create a welcoming backdrop for everything from relaxed dinners to celebratory occasions, bringing the warmth of a favourite gathering place to the heart of South Beach.

INTIMATE DINING AND AFTER-DARK EXPERIENCES

For a more exclusive culinary experience, Koju Sushi reveals itself beyond an understated passageway. With seating for just eleven guests, the intimate omakase experience places craftsmanship, anticipation and personal attention at the forefront. The setting offers a more discreet alternative to the energy of the hotel’s larger dining spaces, making each course part of a carefully considered culinary journey.

As evening arrives, Holiday Club introduces a more theatrical side of the property. Deep crimson velvet curtains frame a lounge where handcrafted cocktails, live music and DJs create an atmosphere designed for conversation and nights that extend beyond expectation. The space brings a distinctive sense of occasion to the hotel’s nightlife, balancing intimate surroundings with Miami Beach’s lively social scene.

POOLSIDE LIVING AND THE SOUTH BEACH SHORELINE

Beyond the interiors, the expansive pool deck and adjoining lawn lead naturally toward a coveted stretch of South Beach. Cantilevered loungers extend over the water, while semi-private cabanas provide space to retreat from the sun. Firepits and thoughtfully arranged gathering areas encourage guests to linger, whether enjoying a leisurely afternoon or reconnecting after a day exploring the city.

The seamless connection between the pool, beach and dining venues creates an effortless rhythm throughout the day. Guests can move from oceanfront relaxation to a Mediterranean lunch, return to the water in the afternoon and transition into an evening of cocktails, dining and entertainment without leaving the property.

A DISTINCTIVE EXPRESSION OF MIAMI BEACH

The James Nautilus Miami Beach brings together architectural heritage, expressive design and instinctive hospitality to create an experience with a character all its own. Mornings unfold in the Atlantic’s natural light, afternoons invite a slower pace and evenings offer opportunities for exceptional dining and lively social encounters.

Rooted in the legacy of Miami Modern design yet shaped by contemporary influences, the hotel offers more than an oceanfront stay. It is a place where art, culture, culinary discovery and coastal living intersect, inviting guests to experience Miami Beach with substance, spontaneity and enduring style.
