WHERE CAMPANIA MEETS THE SEA

Perched above the Bay of Naples, Hotel Mediterraneo Sorrento is deeply connected to the landscape, traditions, and culinary heritage of Campania. Originally built in 1912 as a private residence, the family-owned hotel has welcomed travelers to the Sorrentine Peninsula for more than six decades. Today, its contemporary Italian design, regional cuisine, local craftsmanship, and long-standing family history reflect the character of Southern Italy.

A CULINARY EXPRESSION OF CAMPANIA

At the center of the hotel's dining scene is Vista Skybar & Dining, Sorrento's first seafront rooftop. Recently reimagined with new furnishings, warmer materials, and a redesigned bar, the space transitions from afternoon aperitivo to evening dining against panoramic views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius.

Executive Chef Giuseppe Saccone's menu draws from the convivial spirit of Southern Italy and the wider Mediterranean, with dishes designed for sharing. Head Bartender Arturo Iaccarino oversees the cocktail programme, while live music adds to the relaxed atmosphere. As the sun sets, the rooftop shifts naturally from aperitivo to dinner, becoming a gathering place for visitors and locals alike.

For a more refined dining experience, Vesuvio Panoramic Restaurant celebrates the culinary traditions of Campania under the direction of Chef de Cuisine Nicola Celentano. Looking directly toward Mount Vesuvius, the restaurant focuses on seasonal ingredients, local olive oil, house-made pasta, and products from the Sorrentine Peninsula. Dishes such as Sorrento-Capri, a contemporary interpretation of gnocchi alla sorrentina, highlight the region's culinary traditions, while the wine programme focuses on Campania's vineyards and volcanic terroirs.

The hotel's culinary offerings continue throughout the day. Breakfast is served overlooking the bay, with local specialties and products from small artisan producers. Within the Mediterranean garden, Aqua Pool Lounge offers relaxed lunches featuring wood-fired pizza, freshly caught seafood, and seasonal dishes. Across from the hotel, Terrazza Mediterraneo Italian Bistrot provides informal all-day dining, with regional wines and Italian dishes such as spaghetti with Sorrento lemon pesto and Italian caviar.

BEYOND THE DINING TABLE

Food is also a way to experience the culture and traditions of the Sorrentine Peninsula. Hotel Mediterraneo's culinary experiences include pizza-making with Benito, a member of the Mediterraneo family for more than 50 years, as well as guided wine and olive oil tastings featuring regional producers.

These experiences offer a closer look at the people and traditions behind Campania's cuisine, from the producers who cultivate its ingredients to the techniques and recipes passed through generations. The emphasis remains on the connection between food, place, and community.

A SENSE OF PLACE

The hotel's connection to the destination extends beyond food. Its 60 rooms and suites overlook the Bay of Naples, with local materials, artisanal craftsmanship, and regional influences incorporated throughout the property. A Mediterranean garden, outdoor swimming pool, direct beach access via a private elevator, and LePietre Spa offer additional ways to experience the coastal setting.

Private yacht excursions, boat trips to Capri, local winery visits, and itineraries throughout the Sorrentine Peninsula and Amalfi Coast further connect the hotel to its surroundings. Partnerships with regional producers, artisans, and family-run businesses reinforce that connection, bringing the people and traditions of Southern Italy into the guest experience.

With more than a century of history and generations of family ownership, Hotel Mediterraneo Sorrento offers an approach to hospitality that is closely tied to its setting. Its cuisine, design, experiences, and relationships with the local community come together to reflect the distinctive character of Campania and life along the Sorrentine Coast.
