In his role as General Manager for One&Only Moonlight Basin, Serge Ditesheim is responsible for leading the opening of One&Only’s first resort and Private Homes in the United States. The highly anticipated alpine retreat is set amidst the awe-inspiring landscapes of Big Sky, Montana, surrounded by fragrant pine forests and snow-capped peaks. An extraordinary year-round retreat where contemporary design meets the untamed spirit of the American West, One&Only Moonlight Basin offers a unique contrast to Serge’s previous role at Kerzner International, where he oversaw the opening of One&Only Mandarina in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico. The transition from beach sanctuary to snow-topped slopes is a testament to Serge’s unrivaled experience in international hospitality. With over two decades in the industry, Serge’s career spans multiple continents and luxury brands, encompassing leadership roles in guest relations, operations, and pre-opening task forces. Serge is fluent in German, French, English and Spanish, and holds an MBA of International Hospitality and Service Industries Management from Glion Institute of Higher Education.

WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE CREATION OF ONE&ONLY MOONLIGHT BASIN AND WHEN DO YOU OPEN?
The inspiration behind the creation of One&Only Moonlight Basin comes from a deep desire to blend seamlessly with the natural alpine landscape of Big Sky, Montana. Designed in partnership with Olson Kundig, the resort uses weathered wood, stone, and steel to reflect the surrounding wilderness, creating a secluded retreat that honors the land while offering guests peace and privacy. We are excited to officially open our doors on November 18 and look forward to welcoming guests to this extraordinary destination.
WHAT’S IT LIKE TO WAKE UP AT MOONLIGHT BASIN?
Our guests can expect rooms that feel like a true extension of the Montana wilderness: warm, refined, and deeply connected to the landscape. Each space is thoughtfully designed with natural materials such as wood and stone, accented by locally crafted artwork and cozy textiles. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame sweeping mountain and alpine views, while the low-profile architecture ensures privacy and a strong sense of place. Our beautifully designed Private Homes at One&Only Moonlight Basin were designed and crafted by Olson Kundig. These spacious four- to six-bedroom Homes blend natural materials with stunning views of Big Sky’s forests and peaks. With open-indoor-outdoor living, fire pits, hot tubs, gourmet kitchens, and convenient garage access, they provide the perfect balance of luxury, comfort, and connection to nature.
WHAT IS THE RESTAURANT CONCEPT AT THE RESORT?
Our resort’s culinary experience, six unique venues each offering its own distinct character. Whether you’re craving American alpine flavors at The Landing, ranch-to-table dishes at Wildwood, or modern Japanese cuisine crafted by celebrity chef Akira Back, there’s something to delight every palate. For a more relaxed vibe, enjoy the finest whiskey pours at Moonshack or an intimate cocktail at Dear Josephine. And don’t miss our outdoor heated pool, where you can take in the stunning Montana mountain views while savoring refreshing cocktails and Montana-Mexican fare.

Our heated One&Only Gondola, with floor-to-ceiling windows, offers stunning views of the snow-covered landscape while providing seamless five-minute access to the Madison Base. There you’ll find the Madison 8, the world’s longest eight-seat heated chairlift, and a dedicated kids’ ski school. Whether you’re a seasoned skier or just starting out, we offer a range of ski activities and private or group lessons at the Madison Base to help you make the most of your time on the mountain.
